What the box changes
Energy Black Box may change one configured value: the battery charge target for the next approved charging window. It does not rewrite charge current, discharge floor, battery chemistry, price windows, or installer safety settings.
Before writing a target it checks the inverter state, battery alarms, operating mode, tariff window, register readability, and the bounds of the proposed value. The value is read back after the write. A mismatch is recorded as a failed decision.
Before installation
Keep the exact inverter model, firmware version, logger model, battery model, usable battery capacity, electricity price source, and installation location available. The price source may be a supported live market feed, a supplier schedule, or customer-entered rates. Compatibility belongs to the model family and connection path—not merely to the logo on the inverter.
The launch process confirms these details before payment. Unsupported equipment is not enabled through an unverified generic profile.
When control pauses
Automatic control pauses when the inverter is offline, the battery reports an alarm, the expected operating mode or tariff window has changed, required data is stale, or the target cannot be verified. Existing inverter and BMS settings continue to operate.
The local decision record explains which guard stopped the write. The optional remote console can report that record, but it is not required for the safe pause.
Release documentation
The detailed quick start, guided setup, model-specific wiring, troubleshooting, recovery, and manual signed-update guides will be published with each supported launch profile. Firmware images and signing remain outside the current launch flow.
